A change of colour
A change of colour
So, We have been working on the project over the last few weeks to see which direction we are going to be taking it from this point on. One of the things that has come forward is that we are going to be changing the format of the production. Instead of going forward with a live action version we are going to be going back to our roots with this. From this post onwards it is official that Shadowplay will be a 2D animated short film. Work has already started on changing the project across to this format and it seems to fit better like this than with the decision to do it with real people.

The state of production
The state of production
Hi everyone,
The production has been on the back burner for a while due to work commitments and other contributing factors. With Autumn in full swing we are looking at getting the ball rolling again and are still looking for people to get involved in the project. With this in mind we would like to introduce you to the people who are currently involved with the project.

The Dark Teddy approaches!
A few quick updates on how things are progressing with the project. At the weekend John travelled down to Bournemouth to shoot some promo footage to give an idea of how the film would look. A new video about the project will be coming soon and will include that footage. As well as this we would like to welcome Claire Kern, and Joanna Price to the project, and their roles will soon be up and on the website soon. Also we have been speaking with a small audio production company, called Dark Teddy Productions, that have offered their services to aid us in the score production as well as some aspects of post-production.
Things are moving forward and there is a really positive air about the project. For now thosugh that's it. Don't forget that if you want to get involved you can see how you can help by visiting shadowplay.approachingstormfilms.com and keep checking back for any more updates on the project.

A call for cast and crew
Shadowplay is an independent live action short film. Written and Directed by John Howrith, the film sees the protagonist (Sophie) deal with what seem to be demons at a time of emotional turmoil. The production is completely independently funded and relies on the support of the public and independent film community to be produced.
Shadowplay is in the pre-production phase and we are looking to go into production later this year. The shoot time is 5 days of which we will hopefully only be filming for 3 of those days. The project is a zero budget production and as such there are no paid positions on it. We are asking for people to donate their time to the production to help us get it made. Below is a list of the roles and things we need to get the production moving.
- Camera Assistant

The following locations and studio space will be needed to film the production. If you think that you have the relevant location to film in that will be available for the entire duration of the filming schedule and possibly for returning if we need to re-shoot some scenes then please get in contact.
- A single level flat or apartment with separate living room and kitchen connected by a hallway.
- A studio space for one scene.
- 50s style interior to be used as a location.
We will be looking to acquire as many props as possible to fill an entire 50s set, and to dress the living room, kitchen and bedroom sets. If you want to you can donate these items to us or lend them to us for the duration of the production. If you think you can assist us then please contact us.
ACCOMODATION
Depending on where we end up shooting the production we will need to find somewhere for everyone to stay. More details of this to come.
The following roles are currently what we will be looking for once the film has finished being shot and would like to have on board beforehand.

Although we have the camera equipment and some lighting we are in need of some other bits and pieces for the production. Equipment such as dolly and track, jib, and lighting rigging are still required for the production. If you think you are able to help by lending or donating equipment then please get in contact with us.
If you would like to help out our production but don’t have the any of the skills, equipment, items or locations we need to complete the production then please feel free to make a donation via our paypal donation link. Anything you can give us will help the production. Donations under £10 will get a thank you on our website, but any donations over £10 will get a credit in the ‘special thanks’ section of the credits.
